Spungo slits the glug of everyday life. Transcends flat surfaced, representational, and virtual media appropriated in engineering recent cultures.
Stories of Spungo are not simply slapped onto flat surfaces – projected or hung on walls. They are hung in the minds of the people who experience them. Attention bombs explode unexpectedly where people gather, snapping heads and causing chain reactions of questioning, talking, and telling. There is no sponge head audience. People are involved. Questioning the old and imagining the new.
To the uninitiated, Spungo would seem to be the bizarre sort of group you could only imagine seeing in a movie. But for some unknown reason this group of corporate refugees and renegade sports artists broke free from the realms of fiction, leapt off the drawing board, and burst out into everyday life: the train stations, busses, public toilets, banks, and supermarket vegetable sections. The following catalogue of art works, art prints, and art products are the catalysts and props for the stories of Spungo's dashing raids into the hum-drum, confounding Stiff Necked Goots, and boldly squirting fun into the citizen's day.
